Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. Also, skip Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese dipping sauce as it contains more than 3000mg sodium. Great view, nice place. Not great service. However, Donald, the upstairs bartender, knows what he is doing, his service is wonderful and he is very friendly. His service is so much better than anyone else around that he is (by himself) earning the four stars I am giving this place.

Nice place to grab a quick but once you get off the ferry, remember to bring cash as they do charge 3% for credit/debit use.

We came here on a sunny day and absolutely LOVED the view. The patio was the perfect spot to soak in some sun and watch the action on the water. That said, I felt it was pretty overpriced, especially given the quality and portion sizes. We got 2 orders of fish and chips. It was ok food. Not great, but good. I got an order of fried oysters. They kind of ruined it by stuffing them full of some weird tasting stuff. I love fried oysters but wasn't impressed with the other flavors they put in there. All in all, $50 for lunch (no alcohol, and just a soda and juice to drink) seemed awfully steep. If you come, bring cash, or be prepared to pay a credit card fee.

Very pricey overrated greasy frozen fish. Got charged 1.00 for refill of paper cup ice tea 8 oz size after spending 85.90 for lunch for 4 servers were bored looking no plates food in paper baskets with plastic silverware and paper cups and just tossed on the table. No one checked on you or asked how our food was. My ice tea was 8 oz paper cup that was all ice charged 2.95 for it and wAs asked to pay for refill. Much nicer and friendlier places on the islandsr&

Go here for water view and the atmosphere. Food is good but all is fried. We could have split our meals and they were large portions.

This place has excellent seafood, service, and the location is fantastic for watching the ferry arrive and depart. The upper deck seating area gives a wide panoramic view of the Harbor front and the ambiance is of a true islander nature. The employees are friendly, courteous, well groomed, and even at busy times do well at multi-tasking orders. I love all the wood as it gives the feeling of a tropical island getaway. The bar has a gazebo covering as well as part of the top deck area so you have the option of staying in the sun or relaxing in the shade. This is a restaurant you definitely need to go see and the prices are well within the range of my budget. The centralized location near the shopping district makes it a perfect family snack and go. An excellent crabhouse that I would love to see near my home. If you are from across the pond, then this is the place to get your fish and chips. ;) Kudos to you!

Great crab cakes and great view! Their current rating definitely isn't accurate. The crab cakes were mostly crab vs. breading.

Picture a beautiful fall day, sitting outside at the bar watching ferries and boats coming in and out of a harbor. You can see why we stopped. Waiting for our ferry and feeling a bit parched we stopped here for a drink. Server was sweet, a bit ditzy though. We ordered a 7 and 7 and she brought us Seagrams rum and seven up. Not quite the same. Nevertheless she fixed it with a crown and 7up. Turns out this was their last day for having the patio open and so we lucked out. While I didn't eat here, I happened to sit next to the burger grill and oh heavens did they smell good. Especially when someone walked up to order a bacon burger. Oh, the torture. My boyfriend ordered and promptly devoured some popcorn shrimp. I can't comment on the restaurant inside or the food that isn't fried but what I did have was nothing terribly special. I was there for the view and the company anyway.

Would give 2 1/2 stars. Part of this review is due to the entertainment I had reading to my party of 9 the bad reviews on yelp. Although most of these ring true, we did have good service...that consisted of the wait staff bringing extremely hot fried food to our table. Skip this and find another better restaurant on yelp.

So at first I thought that we were at Dick's Last Resort, Friday Harbour because seriously the girl behind the counter was a total dick to us. The whole ordering style there is kinda jacked up and really causes a cluster. There were a few people gathered around the counter and you weren't really sure who was taking your order. Wasn't really a place to form a line. I am going to assume that the craziness of that caused this girl to be rude and rush us through ordering. We went up stairs to sit and wait for our order and the bartender up there was a really nice guy and he kinda redeemed the place. We had the oysters platter, all were very good and tasted like they just came out of the water(they probably did). Nothing bad to say about the food and there is a great view of the water from pretty much any seat in the house. I really didn't like the ordering system. The Crabhouse could benefit from just using waiters and ditching the order at the counter operation.

The view is priceless! Hence why we stopped and tried it out, but we wish we would have gone for a worse view and better food and drinks. The port was really busy that day and we had to hang out for a while so we thought we would perch on the lovely balcony for a bit for drinks and food. There were four of us and we had the Captian's Platter and oysters which consisted of mostly fried foods. The fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and octopus had an ok flavor, but nothing special. The oysters fried were edible, but the raw oysters were really really milky and too tough. My friend from Seattle wouldn't even try them. The french fries were soggy and therefore barely even touched. :( Let's not even talk about what my stomach felt like after all of this. Normally if the seafood is decent, then I can handle the fried food every once in a while, but this platter made for a not so pretty smelling afternoon (if you can get what I mean...). Now onto the drinks we were so looking forward to sipping on in the sunshine.... tonic was flat so we only had one drink each. We left as soon as possible to find another spot to spend our time and money at until the ferry could take us away from this very touristy area.

Terrible. Just terrible. The view is nice yes, but the food and the ordering system is so wacko that the view just doesn't make up for it. My hubby ordered the burger & onion rings, and I had the fish tacos. When the little darling slapped the raw meat bare handed on the grill and then didn't bother to wash up after I knew then we were in trouble. The burger was tasteless, bordering on gross and the rings tasted too fishy. The fish tacos were marginally better but were so sogged down in liquid from the pico that they just fell apart. I would come back here for a cocktail but that's about it. The ordering system needs to be changed STAT and the quality of food needs to be stepped up about 12 notches.

Ohhh, Friday's crab house. How I long for you. Working in the industry for 14 years I feel I have a pretty well rounded scope of what a restaurant should or shouldn't be. Good can definitely be hit or miss anywhere one might dine that's why I make a point of asking the server what is their favorite OR what is the most popular. Luckily the Crabhouse is staffed with thoughtful and relatable employees who although they might potentially be slammed really do want you to have an amazing experience. Coming in with fine dining taste and an expectation of promptness might leave you feeling like your expectations haven't been met, however, if your patient, and chill, you might have the time of your life here. The staff is warm silly and attentive, the grilled salmon w caper sauce is my go to (I like delicious consistency) If you do it right, and don't mind being potentially patient the crab house can be the cherry on top of your Friday harbor experience. The staff really is quite likable but Kitty and Eric really embody the spirit of the crab house Warm, funny, and genuine.

This was a great place to view Friday Harbor! The food we ordered was delicious...Caesar salad, mussels, barbecue oysters! I read complaints about greasy food, but if you order fried food what do you expect! This is a great outside casual place to dine and they love dogs!!!

5 stars on customer service alone. Absolutely wonderful! The staff are among the friendliest groups of people I've ever interacted with. Victoria specifically was very accommodating. My grandpa couldn't make it up the stairs so she stopped what she was doing to set up an area easy for him to sit at...and we had a party of 11 people. They were all patient with us and helped us out tremendously. Food was great! Freshly caught seafood and service was very quick with a packed house and a party of 11 people. I can't recommend this place enough. Wonderful staff, wonderful view, wonderful food/drinks, and a wonderful experience. You guys are doing something right.

Very accommodating to the handicapped! The staff is very friendly and helpful! Fish and chips are awesome. Ordering system is very confusing however. Victoria was probably the best hostess I've ever seen!

Best view in town from the upper bar. Grilled crab cakes and salmon fish and chips were great! Not fancy but the food is priced very reasonably.

Looks very nice from the street. A little disorganized but staff was friendly,we ordered and after about ten minutes a staff member came and told us they were out of what we ordered. About that time we got our drinks. There was absolutely no alcohol in either drink! My sister took her up to the bar tender to complain. The bar tender took her drink from her drank off of her straw, added another shot of vodka and handed it BACK! He expected her to drink it! Needless to say we left and had the best Thai food ever at the Golden Triangle. Highly recommend the Angel Wings.

Great view and super friendly staff but we found the food rather bland. I think adding capers was a weird way to add flavor but with seafood??

Came to the crabhouse at noon on a Friday. They were out of crab. Seems like the #1 priority for a crabhouse.

After a great bike ride around the island, I just wanted good food and some beer. Got it at this place. Service was good, view was amazing and the Fish Tacos - totally awesome :-). I messed up on ordering and forgot to tell them about my wife's milk allergies. They drizzled sour cream on top. I told them about it and Nick in a second was making a new order and thought I told them I would pay, he said no and insisted that I don't pay. Wow, way cool. Left a nice tip in the jar :-) Open air, view of the harbor and water, up high so you can people watch. Definitely a must go.

I'll give it 3stars only because of the location, food is all fried and that's not my taste

Worth the stop for the view and a beer. Being able to look out over the bay while drinking a beer was very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and fast. The food however was not great. Overall still a good experience

  • Sherri C.

More like Friday Craphouse. They put the dung in Dungeness crab. I'd rather have crabs than eat their crabs. This place is awful. If you're looking to recreate their recipes just take a stroll down the frozen aisle of your local grocery store. If you're really into replicating the experience make sure that when you serve yourself you do so with an indifferent and cold attitude. Having to carry some gross bathroom key around which the bartender then lays on the bar only adds to this lovely waterside gem. As my grandmother used to say..."Feh." Coming from New England I've been to my share of wonderful seafood shacks and when done well it beats most 5 star restaurants. This place is just plain disgusting.

  • Mel K.

The fish and chips were AMAZING!! The price is too high in my opinion for the atmosphere though, Casual dining is my style but it was constant yelling by employees, and the cooks/food runners pass food and garbage up and down the decks so I got a little tired of having garbage passed constantly next to my feet

While trying to kill a little over an hour before our ferry left we happened across the Crabhouse. It's a little confusing when you walk up to the area that you think is the greeter's station... but is actually a bar. Basically you can sit wherever you want but you order food/drinks from the bar on the bottom floor or just drinks from the bar upstairs. Have one person hold down your table while another waits for your orders to be called out since they don't really do table service. I'm not really sure what sort of fried nonsense my girlfriend chose but she said it was tasty and she ate most of it. I went with a chicken Caesar salad. It was really good! The chicken had a little bit of pepper and seasoning and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. I was really surprised by the amount of chicken it came with. This was not a skimpy salad by any means. We sat on the upper deck so we could enjoy the view of the bay on a sunny afternoon. Since the Crabhouse is right on the water I'd wager that it has one of the better views of the bay in the area. The bathrooms are a little sketchy. Get the key from the lower ordering station, walk through their gift shop and down a narrow set of stairs to muggy lower hallway where the bathrooms are located. I'm not sure why the men's room has a lock because it doesn't work (and there was no way to latch or lock the door from the inside). I had to stretch my leg out to keep the door closed due to someone's unattended child trying to come in to see what I was doing. Really the bottom line for me on this spot is it has a great view, good food and is really close to the ferry loading area. I'd come back here on my next trip to Friday Harbor. I'm a fan.

We just drank up on the top deck so no clue on the food. The view was excellent and the drinks were a pretty good value. Met some nice people while working on the tan. A successful day

We ordered fish tacos at the stand right when you walk up. Paid about $24 and was not impressed. Tacos were cold. Terrible service, guy overcharged us the first time and couldn't get our drinks right, had to tell him three times. Only gets 2 because the spices in the sauce were great and view is fantastic. Had better fish tacos in Texas miles away from the water.

  • Debbie W.

Don't go two very rude employees. One waitress and an the other older lady on the grill on the second level. We got up and left. I wouldn't even give them a star but you have to to do a review.

    (1)
  • Kate L.

I'll give it a 2.5 star rating. On the expensive side since it's a touristy place. It's not terrible, but not amazing either. Service is friendly, food is not that great. Friends and I had steamed mussels, clams, and fried fish and chips. All kind of bland and super greasy. The food came at different times, and the servers yell your name to find you. It's a weird system and kind of works, but not really convenient. The view is relaxing.. watching ferry traffic. But you can get that anywhere in Friday Harbor really.

    (2)
  • Razel M.

Prices are ridiculous and food is not worth what you pay for. Boyfriend liked the fish sandwich; I preferred the daily fish special. Neither were that great. Ordering system is ridiculous: you grab a table, go down to the center bar and try to find the line, and then order and pay. Back to your table and hope that one of the servers running around is yelling out your name. Hope they don't hear or spell it wrong because then your food is going cold while they're not finding you. Once they do find you, food shows up in disposable containers, with plastic utensils. Meh. The only good thing is the view. Not worth the effort. This is most certainly a tourist trap. Do not fall for it like we did.

    (2)
  • Kyle R.

Not recommend. There are many restaurants with a view here so if you are worried about that just go somewhere else. The service system is terrible. They walk around yelling people's names ruining the atmosphere. The food isn't very good. Had clams served on a plastic plate with a plastic fork. Not the best way to eat clams at all. I would not go to this restaurant again.

I had the Captain's Platter and ate on the rooftop, which offers a great view of Friday Harbor. I wish Friday's had some grilled options, however, but the combo of fish, calamari, scallops, oysters and shrimp seemed too good to pass up. Everything was just OK, sort of what you'd expect from a deep-fried seafood platter. Only the scallops really had any sort of good flavor, and I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of it wasn't out of a frozen bag instead of fresh from the harbor. The other dish, a fish dish, that we got was pretty bland. Everything here is just too simple and thrown together. I guess it's basically a bar that happens to have a deep frier and a grill but no one who is really trained on food prep. Compared to other places we ate on the island, Friday's is just a distraction and good for a quicker, cheaper fix. Also, the way ordering, seating, etc., is handled is just silly.

  • Jeff M.

Our experience here had no highlights unfortunately. The food was all around very bland...simple seasoning would have gone a long way. We ordered fish and chips and popcorn shrimp. The fish seemed frozen ( a crime for the area) and had a caper butter sauce on it that was just sitting open on a grill outside. Hope no bugs were in it. The popcorn shrimp were unlike any popcorn shrimp I've ever had, the batter had zero taste to it. The worst part of the meal was the taste of the cooking oil, it tasted really old and gave a bad aftertaste. Ok, so, two thumbs down on the food. The service was bad as well. We sat outside where there were about five people working...it seemed more like social time for them and very disorganized. One waiter kept bringing us food from other tables, even as we sat down. Sadly, he was the only one who expressed interest in us. The wait staff pretty much ignored us, never asked how things were, never refilled drinks and when we were ready to go one server said she would ring us up when ready, but, we had not received a bill. Once paid, our receipts were dropped off without any communication or thanks. Will never visit again.

In Hawaii, this kind of place is acceptable, in Washington state it is not. You order at the bar, then try to find yourself a ledge or a picnic table, or I suppose balance a plate on your head. The whole place is outdoors, so I can just imagine how unpleasant it is in the rain. We tried to order at the bar, but there was all kinds of commotion about the line queued up, which was not pleasant. Plus we would have paid white-tablecloth prices for this picnic joint. Went instead to Blue Water next door where we got good sit-down waitress service and not as crazy expensive prices as at the Crabhouse. Obviously they stay in business since it's the first restaurant you come across off the ferry. Message: GO TO BLUE WATER, NOT FRIDAY'S CRABHOUSE!

  • Steve L.

Well, we really never got to eat here as we walked into what was a open atmosphere we were told that they had already called last call and we couldn't go in. Maybe they should put a sign at the door.

  • Terrie T.

I had the fish tacos that were suppose to be $10 and sweet potato fries for $3 but total came to $17. I got two tacos on white corn tortillas, 1/4 cup of store bag cut iceberg lettuce and 1/4 cup grilled cod. They should offer a third taco and more optional toppings for the price. The sweet potato fries were fresh and best I have had. Service was rushed and rude. My husband was told to order his plate at next counter. He had the captains ate which came with scallops, prawns, clams, fish, French fries and onion rings for $18. All tasted like per packaged frozen sea food. It was a little over cooked as well. On Friday Harbor we expected fresh sea food!

  • Tabassum S.

Prices are ridiculously high and food is not worth what you pay for AT ALL. The salmon clam chowder i ordered was okay. My hubby ordered prawn platter, which just have 5/6 pieces small dip fried prawn and some fries.($12.99, really?!) Server dipped her finger in our water glass while giving it to us! And when we pointed out asking to change the glass of water, she just denied! Terrific!

  • Ryan W.

Honestly, pretty darn good. Maybe I wasn't expecting much due to the poor rating. I got a blue cheese burger and added bacon. Everything was fresh, the bacon was cooked fresh too. Delicious. My GF got the fish tacos. She said they were just ok. So the moral of the story is, at this seafood restaurant, skip the seafood and get a burger!

    (4)
  • Alyssa K.

Way overpriced for what you get. The food was gross. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was soggy and greasy. With no flavor at all! Save yourself and go somewhere else!

  • Alex L.

For being at a premier location it's weak. It probably is one of the restaurants with the best views of the Puget Sound but that's all they got. They lured us in because it's right next to the ferry terminal and looks fun. We sampled several different meals and it was all bland. Should have read reviews on Yelp before going. Several other restaurants in the area had 4 stars.

    (1)
  • Bob P.

You can see by my reviews that I'm very generous handing out the stars. So when I give a 1 star rating, it was a very poor experience. Here's the highlights: 5 star: the place has a very cool multi level set up with a spectacular view. It has a built in crowd of ferry goers, that any restaurant would love to have 1 star: the upstairs bartender was an ass. We were a group of 15 that came in for some after wedding day feasting. While we were downstairs ordering ( because they are too cheap to hire servers), the bartender started to remove our chairs and tables. We explained that most of our party was down ordering lunch....he didn't seem to care. It almost turned into a brawl. I think the bartender realized that most of our party were built like offensive linemen, and that he played for the ballerina team!! 1 star: the food was overdone Sysco fast food.....and wasn't cheap. The fish and chips were gross, the calamari sucked, the popcorn shrimp was good......but that was it. 3 star: the alcohol was cold. The drink level was standard bar. This island is so cool.....somebody would rake it in if they ever figured it out!!

    (1)
  • Steve V.

This place gets points for location. From either the rooftop deck or the balcony on the main level, you get an excellent view of the ferry terminal and waterfront. Worth the visit just for this! So, why only 3 stars? So many people, for one. Really busy! When you arrive, you basically order and then are on your own to find a seat, which are limited. I don't agree with spending $50 for lunch for 2 people and then being on your own to find a seat with a plastic plate. A little service would be nice at that price tag. I had a crab cake lunch which were 2 cakes on a plate with some fries. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a crab cake sandwich. Very fried! Cost was market price...about $14 I think. My wife had the fish sandwich for $9.95 which was ok. Oysters looked good, but were pricey. Most of the food was fried and arguably a little mass-produced. They had a nice selection of beers on tap. Waiter service was minimal to non-existent. Staff was ok with a lot of young folks with summer jobs. You can find street parking a few blocks away. OK if you are waiting for the ferry and want a good view.

Terrible customer service! We were not greeted or brought menus. Different types of food need to be ordered in different areas of the restaurant. Servers were not knowledgeable of menu and what foods cost what. Charged $1.00 for a 16 oz soda refill. When we finally did figure out how to order, one of the orders was lost, we asked about it then were brought the wrong plate. At this point we got to watch the "waitresses" stand around and eat the plate of food that was mistakenly cooked right in front of us and the entire restaurant. All food was taken out of bags in the freezer. Very overpriced for the quality and quantity of food, prepackaged sauces on side as well. If someone could get this place together, hire new staff and train them to actually help the customer, this place could have a chance. But as for now, I will never return to waste my money at Friday's Crabhouse.

We stopped her for a drink with an amazing view. The service was fine, the drinks, ehhh, okay. The smell of the food was terrible, though. I sat next to a man who was clearly enjoying his, but it looked and smelled disgusting. We also were above the kitchen below, and as he was cleaning up, a horrible aroma wafted up to us. I can't imagine the food here was very good. They also made last call at like 7:50 pm. Really?

The View and Fresh Air We did find staff directing patrons to where we should order, which was good. (on July 18th, 2013). I get a sense that the service is limited so that the prices stay a little lower. I can appreciate this as the seafood quality was great for the price. We 3 adults with our 2 college daughters ate a variety of sandwiches and I had a crab salad. I also ordered steamed clams for everyone to try. My midwestern guests hadn't had steamed clams before. The crab was delish, the salad was fresh (although a bit plain) and the sandwiches were pleasing. But the clams disappointed me. There was very little butter in their broth, and too much distracting parsley. The clams weren't too rubbery so there was no need to distract from them, in fact they seemed extremely fresh! But for people who are just trying them for the first time, I think butter is the best option. Or a white wine broth. And garlic and onion of course. No parsley. IMHO.

I agree with the other reviewers about how they run the ordering part of the restaurant. There was no clarification, no signs, we had no idea where to order, who to order with or where to go. Either an employee directing patrons or some sort of sign "order at the bar" would be helpful! We had a whole crab and an appetizer combo and chowder. It was tasty! The chowder was not that great, though. Definitely missing something! The staff was friendly, but confused when handing out food. The probably need a better system...maybe numbers? It was tough to find a spot to sit, too. The staff had to climb two flights of stairs and nobody cleaned off the space or took our trash. Everything is plastic or paper. Nothing fancy here, and they'll tell you that. The best part was the view!

Great view over the harbor! Restaurant and bar with tables inside and three outer decks. Two decks with a view and bar. Friendly service and fast!

Ok, after reading all the reviews we almost went some place else. But we wanted crabs for dinner and they have 'em! Our expectation was a casual place with casual food. Yes crabs are expensive, but that is somewhat expected. I also ordered the pan-fried oysters which did have too much breading, but they were tasted good. The fries that came with the oysters were "standard" casual place fries, nothing special, but fine. Tartar sauce and red sauce were both good. The crab was fresh, njcely - not perfectly (I had to work a little too hard...) - cracked and had plenty of meat. And as mentioned by many, on an awesome blue sky day about 70 degrees, a great place to take in the harbor activity, breathe the air and people watch. I found the downstairs bartender and young ladies who were servers to be pleasant - but then we were pleasant with them too. They immediately directed us to the large "Order Here" sign on the side of the bar and told us to order our food there and they would bring it to us! Maybe they have been reading the reviews... If you have realistic expectations about the experience you want here, I recommend it.

This was recommended by a local fishermen who we spent five hours with just prior. Unfortunately it was about as good as the fishing. Didn't even get a good bite. The layout was peculiar, there really was no service but most of all the food really was bad. I can't really add much more than the previous reviewers but such a great location you would think they would make an effort. Go just around the block for better food.

Hit and miss. Went here three times. First time, the barbequed oysters and the broiled seafood platter tasted great. Crab cakes - overpriced and are unimpressive. The second time the seafood didn't taste as good and fresh while the third time there was no taste, cold and the service was non-existent. The only real draw is the deck that overlooks the ferry and water. Not coming back here again.

The Friday's Crabhouse has a great location with a pretty nice view of the ferry terminal but there isn't all that much to holler about. We ordered the clam strips and a side of fries which put me back $15. I'd say it wasn't worth that much especially since I had to go downstairs to place my order. They did bring the food to our table but the portion was super small for what I paid and came in a plastic basket. Not exactly high class for the price. The restaurant is on 3 levels. The street level is where you order burgers, second level fried foods like the clam strips or fried oysters, and the top floor is where you order your drinks. If you plan on ordering mulitple items you better be ok with stairs cuz you'll be running up and down them! Not the smartest ordering system if you ask me. This was our first time to San Juan Island, but if we return, we won't make it a point to go back here. I'm sure there are other restaurants that are worth it.

Schizophrenic system for ordering and service. It's the antithesis of a system, in fact. Upstairs, downstairs, numerous stations, confused customers and ambivalent staff. We got an overpriced pitcher of beer and mussels... the mussels were fresh, but not what we expected (no broth, a weird sauce on the side, huge in size.) The place became somewhat of a joke during the rest of our stay on the island... "Hey, wanna go back to Friday's Crabhouse?" *laughing ensued*

Great location, food is pretty good, service is HORRIBLE. They have way too many staff standing around gossiping and not being productive, but yet you have to walk over to a specific location to place your order. Cannot order from the bar, must stand up and walk to the end of the bar to order... And if you want a burger you have to walk downstairs to order at a separate register... Never once had any of the staff smile or say thank you... Even when our order was forgotten. They simply remade the order (incorrectly) and ate the messed up order in front of us as they remade our order for the third time. Wish this place was better, would be a great place to hang out and have a beer.

This was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in a long time. Our lunch came to $56 for 2 people. For this we had to find our own seat in a smelly dining room after ordering from a bar staff who's attitude was indifference-bordering-on-contempt. I got the "oyster feast" which was about the worst thing I've had put in front of me at a restaurant. The oysters were bland and poorly prepared. Some of them were sitting in a pool of grease. They were served with a tablespoon or so of some sort of weird brown substance in a plastic cup which I think was supposed to be herbed butter, and a smidge of bottled cocktail sauce, and a small shaving of lemon that was mostly peel. I thought I was on Candid Camera or something. My Wife's salmon was just ok. For $23 she got a small piece, maybe 6 bites or so. Then they have the nerve to charge for softdrink refills. Who, outside of Europe, does that anymore? The only positive was the great view, which unfortunately doesn't help the food, and if anything makes it more disappointing. Either eat somewhere else, or bring some power bars and a bottle of water. You'll be happier.

This restaurant must get a lot of traffic from the ferry, since it's the first restaurant as you walk off. Skip it. I had the Oyster Five Ways and all of the five ways were average to unappetizing. Walk down to the Cask and Schooner to the right.

Friday's Crabhouse is a great place to end your day at Friday Harbor before catching the ferry back to Anacortes. We usually stop here for beers and seafood snacks before hopping on the ferry. The upstairs bar area is the place to be. There's usually several good beers on tap and some open seating that overlooks the harbor. If you want food though, just go downstairs to order and they'll deliver it to you upstairs. The seafood is mostly all deep fried, but so good after a long day on the island.

  • Michael S.

This restaurant is clearly a high volume business designed to serve as many ferry customers as possible. You order at the bar, and the food arrives quickly. However, you have to hunt down items like silverware yourself, and our crab was served cold. I was told the crab is supposed to be ice cold, but given that every other restaurant crab I've had is not cold, you'd think the staff would tell the customers that when they ordered. They've already pre-cracked the crab for you, but you can't get as much meat out as you normally would because there are no little forks. The most they have are regular plastic forks. To some extent, the speed over service trade-off is understandable. I'm sure the restaurant would have more customers upset if they missed the ferry than if the food was better prepared. However, just understand that you are paying restaurant prices for fast food seafood.

  • Kathy K.

Great location, but the service was not very good at all and the food was greasy and mediocre. Bartenders and servers too busy socializing (they forgot to place our drink orders) and ignoring the customers. Fun to sit and watch the ferries load/unload, but that's about it. If you're considering this place for food, choose another. If you just want drinks, prepare to wait.

    (1)
  • Tim S.

Don't go here for seafood. Two seafood entrees we had were not good. Fish taco and scallop platters could have been purchased at a dive in Iowa. Nothing we expected from a location on the sea. Grill was much better. Son's hotdog best of all the meals.

  • Lovemydog B.

We only had a couple beers, but we enjoyed the place. Great view and great patio. Living in a city, when I usually hand my credit card to hold a tab they ask to see my id but never really make contact with me, which is fine. The bartender looked at my card and said "welcome Brenda" made me smile!

  • N A.

Great location, and fun setting. Decent prices. Ordering food and drinks is a PITA! There simply isn't enough room on a busy day to have quests queue up at a cash register and place there orders. Crab cakes were too moist IMO, but decent. The fries were overcooked. No a bad place tho. I'd go back if I was waiting for the ferry.

One of the first things you notice as you depart the Friday Harbor ferry is the bank of people looking down on you from the deck at Friday's Crabhouse. Like musketeers taking aim from a parapet, the deck-diners at Friday's always made me want to seek cover, and not attack the looming tower of stairs. So finally, one summer Sunday evening, we approached from their left flank and made it onto the deck, where of course we immediately took up positions aiming down at all the schmucks below as they walked off of the ferry. Ha ha, suckers! The highlight of our meal was the grilled oysters. They sell them by the piece ($1.50), so we ordered two and then ordered four more after we learned how great they are. If you like oysters, definitely go here and try these. They are different from any other oyster preparation we've ever had, although they may appear to be dressed with the mignonette you find in France (they're not). The meat picked up a light but sharp smokiness, and was cooked but very tender. We found out on the way out that the recipe was invented by the man at the grill himself. It showed.

We went here twice on a recent trip to Friday Harbor - dinner once and then a late lunch before our ferry. Good, simple seafood, many fresh items including oysters, salmon and halibut. We really liked the clam chowder, the shrimp louie salad and the fried oysters. Not a full service spot - you walk up, order, take your seat and someone runs the food/drink to your spot. Plastic forks, etc. Not the best service, but the people are really nice and offer good food and smile, even if it isn't perfect. Beer on tap, inexpensive wine by the glass and mixed drinks. Stick to the beer on tap and skip the mixed drinks.

Had a great lunch at Friday's Crabhouse...since it was offseason (translated: chilly, but sunny) they had the heaters on for their outside bar...so we were quite comfortable. The staff were all friendly - offered tastes of wine/beer before we decided what we wanted. My husband and I each had the recommended wild-caught sole, grilled with capers, lemon and garlic, with a salad - he had wild greens and I had Caesar. The portions were huge (good thing we were hungry after a long drive and ferry ride, as well as no breakfast). Both salads were tasty - the Ceasar was nice and garlicky too (not offensively, but I like garlic). The staff made us feel at home, and we would definitely go back!

    (5)
  • Amy H.

I absolutely agree with other Yelpers. The food here is over-fried and over-priced (stay away from the chicken caesar salad), but you really can't beat the cheap drinks, friendly staff, and incredible view of the water. My traveling companions and I lingered here for hours after checking in to our hotel, and enjoyed cervesa and laughing with the new friends we met. Is everyone that friendly on the island? I swear, we didn't meet one unkind person during our stay. Cheers to Friday Harbor and their happy Crabhouse!

The fish and chips were good...I would order them again. The upper deck has a great view of the harbor. I would say the service sucked, but there really wasn't any.

    (2)
  • Susan M.

Have a couple of drinks before you eat. It's the only way the food would be edible. Certainly not fresh, overcooked rubbery fish. I could tell you everything was recooked from the day before. Soda and iced tea refills cost $1.00. No kids menu. Prices are outrageous for the quality and portions.

    (1)
  • Brandyn H.

Fair prices and some great, fresh seafood. It's not prepared by a chef or anything, so it's simple, but good.

    (4)
  • Lauren M.

Friendly and quick service, delicious fish tacos. The fish tacos are seasoned with a delicious variety of spices and are not fried which is how I prefer. Best part is it's about 1 minute from the ferry docks, cute gifts shops, and excursions with a beautiful view of the marina. They have a great variety of seafood which I would have tried if the restaurant were open earlier. We arrived early in the day for a whale watching and didn't have a chance to but will definitely next time!

    (4)
  • Chris R.

Was looking forward to this after previous reviews and whale watching but very disappointed. The Captian's Platter is very overpriced for what you get and all items are fried and extremely greasy. The shrimp cocktail was good and my mom liked the fries but I burned myself on grease dripping from a scallop and everything was so fried it lacked flavor. Wouldn't recommend or visit again. Update (hour after or so): my father just threw up from the food due to the extreme grease mixed with heat. Avoid this place.

    (2)
  • Jeff T.

My wife and I ate here mostly because of the convenient location just above the ferry docks and the view of the harbor. They were advertising smoked salmon chowder for $5.99, so we each ordered a cup and then split the Captain's Platter (I didn't realize until later that seafood "platters" are always fried). The chowder was good, and there was a hint of a salmon taste to it, but I never came across any actual salmon meat. The fried food was actually okay, but I was disappointed that the oysters they were grilling next to us were not the same ones they fried up for the platter. I did drink a hefeweizen with the meal, but it was served in a plastic cup which is not conducive to good beers unless you're getting drunk in your neighbor's backyard. Pros: Very nice view of the harbor, close proximity to docks Cons: Overpriced, too much fried food, plastic utensils and cups

One of the worst services I've ever seen. After waiting forever, our order came wrong: only one hot dog and a hamburger and one of e kids didn't get their meal. After eating even more more the adult meal, we gave up and decided to leave and they made a big deal about giving our money back for the unserved meals while the correct thing to do would have been to just give ALL of our money back. We only had two hours o. The islands with our boat trip and we wasted almost all of it at this horrible place.

We were in friday harbor a month ago, decided to try a different restaurant, came in today and chose to try Fridays crabhouse, we waited to be greeted then finally 2 ladies turned around said oh sit wherever you like, like we were bothering them from talking to the guys at the bar, we sat then decided we would just go out to their quik taco/hotdog/hamburger bar, I was told from the girl "you're just gonna have to wait really busy" thought to myself seriously? I waited 5 min why she made a couple dogs and fries still did not even pay any attention to me so I decided to leave. If you are reading this consider going somewhere else where your money and family will be appreciated! CANNOT BELIEVE HOW PLACES LIKE THIS ARE STILL In BUSINESS

Outside dining on 3 levels with a wonderful view of the Harbor and the incoming ferries ! Very casual, fish/chips, fresh catch of the day, smoked salmon clam chowder is excellent. Everything is priced good- an assortment of beer is on tap- Good food, great view, priced right and nice people- think we have a keeper here !

Friday's Crabhouse was the first place my boyfriend and I went to right after we docked the ferry and listen up crab fans:...it was YUH-MMY. They have this amazing view of the water and with the vibrant crowd and music playing, it was the perfect welcome on to Friday Harbor It was a little confusing at first with the ordering system but the staff was patient and quick to explain to us that we order at the counter and then seat ourselves. it was really crowded and took us a while to find a table but we finally scored one in the shade so it was worth the search. We got two orders of the fresh cracked dungeness crabs, some grilled oysters, and fish & chips. (Haha I know we were hungry). The orders come with a side of coleslaw (too vinegary for my taste), and fries, which were nice to munch on. How good was it you ask? Besides my boyfriend telling me he had thrown some claw meat my way we didn't talk much :)

  • Bryan S.

My wife and I did not have a very good experience here. First of all, ordering here is a little confusing because there are essentially three different areas to this restaurant, a shellfish bar on the sidewalk, a grill area just above the shellfish bar, and a bar area even further up. We happened to visit on a cloudy day that soon turned to a light sprinkle. All of the seating area around the bar is outdoors and uncovered, but the staff did direct us to a covered area we could sit in even further up some stairs. When my wife and I went up there, we were disgusted. There were flies everywhere! We decided to take it like true Washingtonians and sit outside. There was one part of the bar seating that was slightly covered; it happened to be right above the grill where our burgers were cooked. The location subjected us to smoke and the sight of a greasy grill, but that wasn't what completely disgusted us. After finishing our burgers, we realized that the staff that was ringing up customer orders went directly to assisting with preparing the food without washing their hands. Ugh! This was very disappointing as the food here tasted good - I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries. But after witnessing that, along with the flies, I would never return.

5 stars for the drinks and atmosphere. It's a great place to watch the ferry come in and while away the time with a beer or two. The prices are great too. The food is of the deep fried persuasion and we avoided, but definitely recommend the place for a drink.

  • Jeannie R.

My husband, 2 kids (ages 19 and 16), and I went here for lunch today, because people gave it such great reviews. We thought the prices were too high, especially because you have to order at a counter. The smoked salmon chowder was yummy and worth $5.99. My daughter ordered popcorn shrimp and she and my son thought it was good but a small portion. The clams were OK. My husband and I shared a cold whole crab and were pretty shocked that it cost $26! If I am paying that much for crab, there should be full service wait staff and wine in glasses, not plastic cups. We liked the The Bluff Restaurant at Friday Harbor House much better!

Love the deck - beautiful view of the harbor. The food is good too...oysters grilled right in front of you?! Yes please! Also tried the fried calamari, fried scallops, fish n chips, mussels, and clams. All delicious.

  • Sheryl P.

High volume they are. I agree with Michael S, they are not quality by any means. The food in my opinion so poor. The fish and chips are not only greasy are served with capers which did not impress me. Also the fish had a ton of cartilage. The service is essentially self serve. The only plus about this place is the location. They make so much money serving crud they can live the whole winter in another country.

My fiance and I did enjoy the laid back atmosphere of this establishment on our last visit to Friday Harbor over the Memorial Day weekend. One can enjoy freshly cooked seafood while dining in an open-air setting and watch all of the bustling activities in Friday Harbor. (This place is great if you are looking for a place to wait for the ferry because it is right across the street from where the ferry docks.) Try their crab cakes. They are super delicious!

Nice view. Really nice view. That's where the compliments stop. We visit FH yearly & have eaten in many places, this place twice. Mediocre would be a nice way to Review it. Crabcakes are tasteless. Fried oysters tasted like fish oil. Fries are ok. Overpriced. There are so many outstanding restaurants with beautiful views in this wonderful place! Don't waste your $$$ here.

Yesterday we stopped here for some grub after spending the morning watching Orca whales near San Juan Island. We all ordered the special, Bacon Cheese Burger Basket. The burgers were huge with the works. The meat was grilled to perfection. The fries were generous and were like homemade with the peels on them. The upstairs rooftop is the place to be. Even well mannered dogs are allowed up there btw. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was great.

Food & view were very good, service was not. Crab Cesar Salad was very good and worth the price as was the Smoked Salmon Clam Chowder. The service situation is odd - you order at one of two areas on the lower levels, seat yourself and then a server tries to hunt you down. We had 10 people and the Chowder for two of us didn't arrive until almost everyone else was done with lunch - disappointing. I would probably give it another shot.

We walked into the restaurant next door and got bad service and spotted Friday's Crabhouse. We took a chance, left the first place and headed over. Thank goodness! They were definitely busy (labor day weekend) but everyone was more than friendly and there was hardly any waiting. Fish and chips was tasty with an unexpected garlic topping that we enjoyed over looking the entire harbor. We hung out for a pitcher of beer and had a great afternoon.

Friday Harbor is is really pleasant place to visit, and Friday's Crabhouse is a can't miss if you like a laid back atmosphere with delicious, well-prepared food. It's open air. Just walk up to the grill and bar under the thatch roof deck and order your crab cakes, fish 'n chips, and grilled salmon. All were delicious and would be at home at any fine dining establishment. The crab cakes are almost all crab. It's not lump crab meat, mostly shredded, but that doesn't detract from the flavor or the texture of the cake. The fish and chips were nicely fried and served with their caper butter sauce on top. Caper butter sauce was also served on the grilled salmon, which was just perfectly cooked for my liking. The french fries were very hot and fresh, and the cole slaw was a nice side. I just wish there were more of it! Check it out! It's in the $12-16 range, but I think it's worth it, and I'll make the trip back to Friday Harbor.

  • Steve C.

You can't beat Friday's Crabhouse's location on a sunny summer evening on the upper deck. The restaurant is sprawled on a few levels which can make ordering a little tricky. Once you place your order, there are a few spots to grab a beverage. Prices for both food and drink are steep. I went with a plate with a mishmash of deep fried seafood, which was pretty good. The fries were weak but thank goodness the fish were fresh. The drink selection is standard for an outdoor grill setting. The service was prompt and friendly. Come here for the views without expecting five-star food and you will enjoy yourself.

1, 2, 3 strikes you're out! All the food came at the same time, but mine (strike 1). After my daughter was done with her meal and the rest were almost done, my food came. I sent the waitress away and asked for a refund (you order and pay upfront here). A manager came back acting as if this was the first attempt to give me my food. I told him I didn't want it and that I wanted a refund. He told me that this is not the 'golden arches' and that he told me while ordering the prawns took longer to cook (he did not say anything to me while ordering about a delay). I told him it did not matter that I did not want them anymore as we were almost done. He said he did not want to waste them and that I should take them. When I told him that I just wanted to eat with my family, he slapped them down in front of me and told me to have them for free (strike 2). Although the prawns were excellent, my family waited while I ate. He never came back with my refund (strike 3). We left never to return again, more for the confrontation and poor customer service than anything. I highly recommend the pub next door or the deli on the other side as alternatives to this overpriced, take what we give you dive!

Location incredible across street from ferry and overlooking the water. That's what you pay for...food is bland, little flavor, over- priced and tiny portions. Nice people - better to have a beer and enjoy the terrace atmosphere but eat your meal around the corner at any number of nice restaurants.

My family and I were spending the afternoon near Friday Harbor and went here with the intention of sitting and eating while checking the return ferry schedule. After ordering up front, the staff said they would bring us our food to our table once it was ready. Unfortunately, after sitting and checking the ferry schedule we found that we only had 10 minutes to catch the next one or we'd be stuck here until 10 PM with no other plans! We decided getting to the ferry on time was more important than eating, so we returned to the front counter to cancel our order. Much to our surprise, the staff rushed the order out and boxed it up for us. We made it to the ferry with 3-4 minutes to spare! To the staff here - Thank you for being so accommodating and for saving our day!

This place should come with instructions. If you have children and are looking for a comfortable place to grab an easy bite to eat go to any other restaurant on the island. No table service. Various ordering stations for different meals. Staff that is completely disinterested in assisting customers navigate the unnecessarily unorthodox system. And food that is so far from worth the trouble. When you're an overpriced tourist trap for a captive clientele I suppose there's little motivation for making things easy on the customer. I suppose if you're looking to get plastered and watch the ferry this place might do the trick. I'll never go back.

I'll never go back! Owner is a sexist. Came here for a drink at 7pm on a Thursday evening with my husband right before last call (crazy right!? It's 7pm!) . I Was denied the drink I ordered by the owner. I ordered (soberly) a triple Moscow mule. After We payed for our drinks, the owner then interjected between me and the bartender, saying, SHE WOULD NOT SERVE A GIRL who looks like me a triple drink, based on my body type. I was shocked! I said that I'm entitled to order any drink I want and that I'm not a girl, I'm a woman, she continued to deny me what I ordered and was being completely offensive. I was basically at a loss for words that in 2015 im denied something at a restaurant because I am a woman. Denied by another woman mind you! I told the owner that her reasoning is seriously flawed. I understand she thought she was trying to serve responsibility but it's 7pm at a tourist bar! I left feeling judged, insulted and with a bad taste in my mouth from the unfair treatment. NEWS FLASH! Your business is centered around serving people on vacation alcohol.

Just based off the bar up top. Good customer service, great view, and clean. Although you can't order food up top, you have to go back down.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.
